About

Dr. Sunil Kumar Tripathy is a Senior Research Scientist in Mineral Processing and Metallurgy platform. Sunil has more than 15 years of industrial research experience prior to this position.

Sunil is a researcher focused primarily on mineral processing but also experienced in agglomeration and extractive metallurgy research areas. He is engaging in various cross-platform programs and projects.  He received his undergraduate and graduate degrees from Indian Universities and his PhD from the Indian School of Mines (Indian Institute of Technology), Dhanbad, India.  His dissertation was related to high intensity dry magnetic separation for paramagnetic minerals.  He also held a postdoc position at the Universite de Lorraine, Nancy in France.

Sunil brings with him numerous experiences in academic and industrial roles, including various research roles at R&D, Tata Steel, India.  His technical expertise includes mineral characterization, geo-metallurgy, physical separation, fine particle processing, ferroalloy processing, waste utilization and recycling, agglomeration, extractive metallurgy and flowsheet development as well as mentoring young researchers and students.
