About
Dr. Naba Kumar Kalita is responsible for the development and management of the new biodegradation research lab at NRRI. This program will allow NRRI and the University of Minnesota to develop research programs that help eliminate plastic waste from our ecosystem and boost the bio-economy.
Recently he was a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the University of Bath (April-September 2024). Previously, Dr. Kalita was a Wenner-Green Foreign Postdoctoral Fellow at Division of Polymer Technology, KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Sweden (April 2022-March 2024).
Dr. Kalita received a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati (2015-2020). His Ph.D. research included the biodegradation of biopolymeric composites, and sustainable material solutions. His research interests include assessing the environmental fate of biodegradable materials, aiming to improve composting/organic recycling processes and reduce plastic waste in ecosystems.
