Leah is interested in freshwater phytoplankton ecology, with a specific emphasis in cyanobacteria harmful algal blooms (cHABs) such as identification and community phenology. Previous research focused on temporal and spatial changes in cyanobacteria communities and corresponding nutrient cycles in inland lakes. Her current research includes phytoplankton and paleolimnological analyses of the lower food web in the Laurentian Great Lakes.
