Bio

I have deep experience using -omics methods to investigate diverse evolutionary and ecological questions. I have worked in study systems including venomous marine snails, songbirds, and microbes. My most recent work has been in the field of aquatic microbiology, using metagenomic data to better understand drivers of cyanobacterial bloom formation on Lake Superior.

I am interested in how very small things scale to have very large effects. Recently, this has drawn me to the world of microbes, where I am eagerly applying my skills to understand how these ubiquitous organisms affect ecosystems, and how we might be able to harness them to address any number of critical challenges we face in Minnesota and globally.
